Like wtf you want to end up on the dole or a shitty payed job?

Just do a few years studying and you can be a doctor or a lawyer or a scientist.

Then you can have a fulfilling next 60 years of your life with a good income nice house and lifestyle.

Just a few years of learning all that stuff can make a difference.

School is the starting line in life and is important, then you progress to the school of life and hard knocks both are important any both teach you things

That's fine until you reach 27, then it will suddenly hit him like a ton of bricks that he perhaps should of gained some qualifications in school.

Stop distracting yourself on DS and get on with it.

And no, your life doesn't depend on it but do you're best, it'll be over soon.

Up until this point in your post I agreed with you.

Schools do teach a lot of, quite frankly, complete crap.

If it was up to me I'd rewrite the curriculum to be a damn sight more 'practical' including, but not limited to financial & family planning, politics & debate/critical thinking, home economics (spanning childcare, cookery and gardening), media & communications and a very re-vamped IT syllabus.

I'd completely do away with foreign languages, drama, music, textiles and physical education. A lot of these can be very fun and interesting but in the grand scheme of things they are far, far too specialist and costly (in terms of time and money) for all pupils to undertake.

Actually if it was up to me I'd be making languages a must in primary school.

Seeing as some children abroad speak better English than some of the adults in this country.

Well in my experience the last 3 or so years were a waste of time. Hardly learnt a thing during my final years. The last school I went to was pretty bad though

It's pointless unless you're able to teach every possible language (which isn't remotely possible).

If, say, 10 languages or thereabouts are spoken in one school in one area, how do you pick just 1 or 2 to teach out of them? What about if people still want to learn German, Spanish, French or Latin too?

It's a lost battle as we strive ever closer to technological solutions which can automatically translate things.

I get the sentiment, but in the modern world, and as an English speaking country there's no obvious language we need to learn other than our own.

    Yes.

School is a complete waste of time.
Burn your books, discard your school uniform, go and do drugs and then knock some bird up on your 16th birthday.

More jobs for the rest of us. ;-)

As a child everything was free, I had no responsibility, all my family were alive, the world was a nice and caring place, my whole life was a ahead of me with endless possibilities, everything was innocent. It was a care free life.

You can have none of that as an adult, not really, sooner or later shit will occur.

You can have none of that as an adult, not really, sooner or later shit will occur.

But you can't do anything and have no 'freedom'.

You can't drive, you have virtually no money, people don't take you seriously, you can't legally do so many things...

I suppose it was 'care free' in a number of very superficial ways, sure, I didn't have to wash my clothes, for example, but such chores are a mild sacrifice for the freedoms of being an adult.

School isn't a waste as, if you're lucky, it can help you get to university and then the real fun starts.

You agreed with the algebra bit then? That's an incredibly practical thing, and university is too late to start learning, since it's a basic foundation for many years of subsequent material.

I don't think even the OP agrees with his own post, since he appears to just be trolling.
