I have to say, you really can tell the difference there between the musical theatre stars and those from Hollywood. Sam and Aaron stand out very strongly.

Indeed. But it would have been even more obvious in the film if they hadn't cut Eponine's role a bit and cut some of her big notes. Its a case of the need for big names dictating all - if they had gone for a couple more musical theatre stars - and had a Javert who could sing the role - it would have sounded much better - but then the rest of the cast would have looked decidedly weak.

Meanwhile, Sam is up for a best movie newcomer award if people vote for her.
