Has anyone seen glam rock era film "Velvet goldmine"?

I admit I had never heard of this 1998 british film but it was shown by german ARD television last night after the Eurovision song contest.. It was shown with a dubbed soundtrack but I know enough german to understand it.

It seems it wasn't a great box office success but became a "cult classic" after DVD release. I thought it was good with an interesting selection of music.
Unfortunately the Wikipedia track listing omits a song by Gary Glitter that was in the version shown by ARD, so has british tv ever shown this film? I don't recall it in the cinemas and have never seen it on DVD but will look out for it.
