1TB TiVo is actually 121 HD recording hours or 536 SD recording hours. I also think the 500GB TiVo figures are wrong aswell. |

http://www.skymedia.co.uk/Audience-I...dashboard.aspx Your 10% figure is wrong anyway, it should have been 20% - Sky have approx 10m customers, not all stb's can receive Anytime, only HD boxes can which make up 50% of their customer base. ![]() Anytime is the fastest growing BB based on demand service in history. Still no idea on how many are connected wirelessly, but that's a mute point really because the uptake is huge regardless of whether some customers are paying extra or not. I reckon the surge is due to Sky opening up the service to third party isp's. |

BTW, VM are growing their TV customer base faster than Sky who spend 10 times as much on advertising and have double the footprint in terms of potential customers. If you read analysts reports, you would soon see what Sky concerns are! Nasdaq Quote: Virgin Media, BSkyB's main rival in TV and broadband, has raised the bar with the launch of its combined Internet television and broadband on-demand platform powered by U.S. firm TiVo Inc.'s (TIVO) set-top home entertainment box. Virgin Media on Tuesday reported strong customer demand for TiVo, with around a fifth of its 4.8 million cable customers moving onto TiVo since its launch more than a year ago. |

Talking now about capability, the HD base will likely be comprised of a large amount of first generation Thomson Sky+HD as well as a lower amount of the non-PVR HD boxes, both of which are incapable of receiving Anytime+ so you may want to fix that 50% figure of yours. The incapable boxes, extra costs, fiddling around and poor service on low BB lines will affect how many more wish to connect and we'll never see the reach get to 100% of the HD base like in VM's HD base. |

I'm referring to HD as 99% of my viewing is in HD.

![]() Wouldn't mind three tuners on my box, there have been occasions where it would come in handy, tbis is where repeats come in handy. How times have changed. Virgin have added a host of HD channels over the last 18 months and currently have 31 HD channels available, with 19 of them available on the XL pack. All of a sudden, that 160Gb Hard Drive in the V+ HD box looked ridiculously small as far as recording space was concerned, capable of holding a mere 20 hours of HD content. http://virgintivo.blogspot.co.uk/p/t...iewed.html?m=1 Quote:
Not in my opinion. Quote:

Agree, I doubt it will ever reach 100%, but there's still plenty of growth left as it's only 2 yrs old, once the BBC iplayer and other on demand players are up and running I reckon there will be another surge. |

Sky HD is also available free of charge - Hardly overpriced.

Verdict: Will it keep the TiVo fans and television nuts happy? Yes. Is it the most powerful box on the market? Yes. But is it better than Sky's flagship 1TB Sky+ HD box? Not yet. And it won't be until it's given a much needed polish. http://www.techradar.com/reviews/aud...articleContent I'm sure you'll find one that says the opposite - but from my perspective TiVo loses out in two areas compared to my Sky box, that's not to say it's a bad box, it's just not suited for my needs. At the end of the day it's just an opinion. |

So, in conclusion I think we are all in agreement that Sky HD is better than Tivo.
