HELP! Broken ancient Camcorder. Sony DCR-TRV110E PAL

 In 1999 we bought the camcorder mentioned in title. It has given us good service all this time. Last year it wasnt used at all, and stored in a dry, clean draw but when i tried to use it today it wouldnt work. So i charged its battery to full and tried again. It still wont work. It comes up with a few error codes such as 31:10 and 32:00 but it also wont release tape and makes funny whirring sounds. How can it break itself? Also i was wondering is there anyway to turn Hi8 tapes to c.d? Many thanks.

hi8 to dvd is FAR better and the picture quality is amazing

but you need to get it working to transfer, best getting a dvd-recorder with hard drive. I have sony camcorder and sony dvd-recorder that has plenty connections. With the hard drive you can join all the tapes together in sequence and in the order you want. This is when you notice the Hi-8 tape quality and the dvds on the second best recording type for dvd discs is really amazing

this is a support page and if your computer has a graphic card or looks like a usb connection you could use a computer to record onto dvd if it has a dvd burner

    your manual as well

    http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/3865971141.pdf

on page 99 and 100 it details fault codes and 31.10 and 32.00 means you should be able to fix it yourself ..................... and its cassete problems

you can either slightly push in cassete holder or pull it slighly when its wirring, sounds as if something seized ? after sitting too long

it would be worth fixing for Hi-8 quality alone
