He was actually born in San Francisco, so he was actually American !
His father (Lee Hoi Chuen) was a famous Opera star in China.
His mother was half Chinese, half German.

Hoi Chuen Lee, as is written in The Legendary Bruce Lee book I have. Bruce's real name was Jun Fan, which means forever San Francisco. I assumed he was Chinese because he grew up in Hong Kong.

    Perhaps you mean 'Asian' ?

I meant Far East. Slip of the keyboard.

I remember persuading my dad to take me to see it when I was 15 and too young to get in. He expected to hate it but loved it.

He was the first Indian superstar for Kung Fu.

That gave me a momentary "Maybe he/she is right and I've been wrong all these years!" thought regarding Bruce's nationality! I do sometimes get such impossible thoughts when reading errors like that!

Finally a proper thread in the showbiz section that doesnt involve an airhead or a wannabe.

This guy is the best fighter to have ever lived. I still watch his movies, enter the dragon is a masterpiece.

A true icon. Wish i was around when he was alive. Jackie chan and jet li just dont compare to him.
