Over the last few weeks or so I have noticed that every so often after opening a new tab in Chrome I get redirected to a site (white empty page) with a little pop up box telling me to update Flash player as seen here: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff137/stevenallickuk/Web%20Problem/FPupdate1_zpsceac5e62.png . This blocks all other controls until I click the cross or ok button both of which triggers a download and takes me to a spoof of the adobe flash player page (you can tell it isn't as the address bar reads "newsoftupdate.biz" and the Adobe logo is completely wrong but I expect it would fool many at first glance as seen here: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff137/stevenallickuk/Web%20Problem/FPupdate2_zpsf76dc340.png
I tried following some advice to remove it including running a full virus and malware scan and checking the programs installed for anything fishy. It seemed to go away for a week or two but today I see it happening again.
It only seems to happen when I have a number of tabs open so I wonder if a webpage is triggering it but most of the sites I visit or pretty mainstream so I doubt they would be hosting nasty viruses like this.
Any advice on stopping this issue appreciated.

Don't click unexpected dialogue boxes anywhere, even in empty space.
Shut them down by closing the Tab X (or right click Tab then Close).
Or if it's a Windows box, Ctrl-Alt-Del and use Task Manager to close it down.
Try a quick scan with ADW Cleaner to see if you have a hijack that other scans have missed.

Check each Tab in ADW for any detections. Browser profiles are always listed fyi.
If you clean, it will re-boot after. Close any open work beforehand.
