To follow the thread from the best place you have holidayed/travelled.

Mine are:

Tenerife (ghastly place)
Benidorm (as Tenerife)
Las Vegas/Blackpool/Skegness (lump all together because they are all as bad)

Wales. It felt a bit like holidaying in Roysten Vasey.

Tenerife, compete shit hole. Well las Americas, los Christianos and gigantes, the three places I went to, was only there for a week so didn't really have time to find the good places. But then, I was told by the travel agent las Americas was fab. Lies, all lies.

Costa del Sol, Spain. One big advert for how bad Brits are as tourists.

Altinkum in Turkey. Complete sh*thole where you are hassled non stop, get leered at and groped even if you're with your partner. Every person we met had diarrhoea for the entire fortnight and most of us couldn't wait to go home.

Spain. Horrible place around the coast. Been turned into a Little England by the Brits - bit like the Benidorm series.

That city does seem to have the "marmite effect", most people either love it or hate it. But did you visit any of the (IMHO) wonderful places relatively nearby such as the Grand Canyon or Zion National Park?

I always put in a fair bit of effort when arranging holidays, so have never been anywhere I didn't like.

    Prague.

A beautiful city ruined by drunken stag/hen dos. We had the treat of seeing someone pass out in a restaurant and fall face first in their dinner, whereupon his mates decided it would be funny to stand on the table and urinate on him.

You can probably guess what nationality these people were.

Sounds a bit like Magaluf, Kavos, Malia, Faliraki, etc, etc

I do these days but it wasn't so easy in the days before Tripadvisor etc.

I do agree it's more difficult to end up in a sh*thole by accident now but 10+ years ago, it was a lottery

Wales. It felt so drab. Some lovely scenery though.

Ibiza - The place smelled like one big cesspit. I was there for 7 days, 4 of which were spent in the bathroom of my hotel room sick with food poisoning.

Gran Canaria - Just found it very boring, with not a lot to do

Dubai - The place was just like walking onto a movie set with cardboard building sets. The place just felt fake. Abu Dhabi on the other hand was quite nice though.

Luckily I've been to some lovely places which made me forget the above: Barbados, Cuba, Canada and various lovely cities in Italy, Bulgaria, Rome, and of course England:)
Edited to add that Greece was beautiful too
