Can I ditch sky and use the dish?

in Freesat+ Recorders #1
2 cables come into my sky box from the dish, can I get another recording box and record programmes using the sky dish? Or will they want it back when I cancel my subscription.

    No sky will not want the dish back if you cancel your subscription. You are free to purchase a freesat or other satellite receiver and connect it up.

    Assuming you are out of your minimum term of 12 months for your sky subscription it's a 31 days notice period to cancel.

    Cheers , are there any boxes out there as user friendly as the sky box as my misses will moan as usual when I cancel sky.

    The Humax 1000s (and its variations) <freetime> boxes are your best bet.
