Like the way the boring old fart went from one dolly wife to another in a very short time, dont know what they both saw in him, especially the second one when he had a kid.
And as for the "Boss", hard to believe he was that nasty, belting his daughter yes I know its the 50s but still.
A lot of people used belts on their kids in those days.
It was very slow and tedious to start with and nearly gave up with it early on, but it picked up well after the mother's drowning. I can feel Lewis's tension. I hope sometime he confronts and beats the sh*t out of the appalling, smug Mr Carmichael after seeing him thrash Kit. That would be poetic justice.

I'm very glad to say my dad never did.
I read this book quite a while ago and I can't remember how it ends, (but then at my age, it's sometimes a struggle to remember my own name. I know I enjoyed the book.

I know the problem. I can barely remember what some books were about a few days after reading them.
I have read the book, and this is one of those rare occasions (for me) when it seems exactly like the book! (Possibly because of the involvement of the author)
The scenes that some have complained about (eg. the belting, the sanitary towel) resonate with me, as it seems a good reflection of the times,( in my experience)

Looking forward to tonight's episode.
I felt there was no need to show her looking at the blood in her knickers, that seemed like crude realism. I just felt it was unnecessary. Her actually putting the sanitary towel on made me laugh.

He was amazing and also thought Kit was a star.

Thanks for that.

She's not really. I think she's just flirting , although she does like him.
I can't remember why he went to prison.
He set fire to the church.
She is a terrible actress. He's not great either. Is he supposed to be suffering from PTSD?
Oh yes! Thanks.:)
I think this is the first time he's broken down.
I agree. She's awful. I like the actor playing Lewis, though...and Kitt.
Lewis and Kit seem like the only sympathetic characters in this. Everyone else is so cold and unforgiving.:(
She is terrific. Quite sad for her. Worra bitch her mother is. Allowing her daughters to be abused just so he won't abuse her again.
Lewis and Kit - kindred spirits.
Hahaha. It was a bit.
