Repeat dances for Final (no spoilers please)
Assuming they have to reprise 2 dances for the final (and that is an assumption!), what 2 dances do you think each should do?
One Latin and one Ballroom.
I think AT is classed as ballroom, and Charleston as Latin, but happy to be corrected
I’m including everyone from Saturday, so no spoilers please.
If you need you memory refreshing, these links might help
Who danced what each week and music used
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strictly_Come_Dancing_%28series_12%29
Clips on BBC website
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006m8dq/clips
I would like to see the following again (in alphabetical order to be fair)
Caroline
American Smooth - Mack the Knife (cos I’d like to see it without the slip at the beginning)
Salsa – Maria (Risky cos the only way from 40 is down)
Frankie
Tango – Defying Gravity (But without the green face, She can have the wig)
Samba – La Bamba. Not technically her best but a crowdpleaser
Jake
Salsa – Mambo no 5. Janette’s speciality so stick with what you are best at. And those drops!!
Quickstep – I’m Still Standing. No Domestic violence or boredom
Mark
Jive – Little Shop of Horrors (mainly cos Karen was such a good sport about that hair and makeup did to her)
Waltz – Weekend in New England (but remove the bit where Mark “motorboats” Karen)
Simon
Foxtrot – My Guy
or Quickstep – I Got Rhythm. Most of his ballroom were ok
Jive – All Shook Up. He came in for some stick after this, but with hindsight I think it would go down well on a second viewing
Whatever they choose - NO Backing Dancers please!!

AS and Charleston
Jake and Janette
Tango and Salsa
Frankie and Kevin
Paso and Tango
Mark and Karen
Waltz and Charleston
Simon and Kristina
Quickstep and samba
Jake- Waltz
Salsa
Mark- Foxtrot
Samba
Simon- Waltz
Argentine Tango
Frankie- Quickstep
Tango
Caroline- American Smooth
Charleston
So my guesses are:
Caroline & Pasha
Judges' choice: American Smooth
Favourite dance: Charleston
Mark & Karen
Judges' choice: Waltz
Favourite dance: Jive
Frankie & Kevin
Judges' choice: Paso Doble (or Foxtrot if they decide everyone doesn't have to do Latin and ballroom)
Favourite dance: Tango
Simon & Kristina
Judges' choice: Quickstep (or Paso Doble if they decide everyone has to do a Latin and ballroom)
Favourite dance: Argentine Tango
Jake & Janette
Judges' choice: Tango or Samba (depending on the ballroom/Latin caveat above and also whether they're picking dances which need improvement or just one of the couple's best dances)
Favourite dance: Salsa (Jake and Janette have already said that if they get through they'll be dancing Salsa)
Simon : definitely the Argentine Tango
Jake : salsa
Caroline : idk.. maybe the Charleston
Mark : idk...samba ?
Frankie : AT, Paso, or Tango.
American Smooth - Mack the Knife (I like to see it right this time)
Charleston-Istanbule (not constantinopel) (my favourite dance of her (and not only cause pasha was shirtless)
Frankie
Paso- America (it was really great)
Argentine tango- the 5th (only other standout dance that me notice her)
Jake
Salsa – Mambo no 5. It was great
Jive- All shoock up( hopefully he can do the routine right this time)
Mark
Paso doble superman theme (mainly cause that shit was funny)
samba- thats the way (this was a genuinly good dance from him)
Simon
salsa-lets hear it for the boy (when he clicked for me as a dancer)
vienesse waltz-somebody to love (to show what he has learnt as a dancer)
I didn't say they would have their own choice or judges choice.
I was asking what *we* would like to see.
I choose a couple of dances that have room for improvement, and noted the drawback of re-doing a 40 dance
I'd forgotten that some have "doubled up" more recently.
I really think they should not be able to dodge one discipline
Caroline & Pasha
Judges Choice - Charleston
Couples Choice - Rumba
Frankie & Kevin
Judges Choice - Tango
Couples Choice - Foxtrot
Jake & Janette
Judges Choice - Salsa
Couples Choice - Quickstep
Mark & Karen
Judges Choice - Quickstep
Couples Choice - Jive
Simon & Kristina
Judges Choice - Waltz
Couples Choice - Charleston
it was a jive-y rock n roll type thing to Great Balls of Fire I believe
EDIT: is AT classed as ballroom then? I always thought it was a latin dance
I think it was Latin until they introduced the Charleston, then it basically had to become classed as ballroom to sort of even the numbers out (though it's still one in favour of 'Latin'-esque dances due to the salsa). Then again, in those days it used to be sensibly danced only by the semi-finalists, so it didn't really matter which it was.
Frankie ... Paso and Tango (poss Foxtrot)
Jake ... Salsa and Quickstep (poss Jive)
Can't say for the other two ... as their dances don't stick in my head.
Frankie - Love her but can't remember her dances so Argentine Tango as it was only yesterday
Jake - Salsa (don't really like any of his)
Mark - loved his dance last week (idk what it was )
Simon - Argentine Tango for definite... would love to see how he'd do it now he's much improved.
American Smooth
Argentine Tango
Frankie
Tango
Samba
Jake
Salsa
Waltz
Mark
Jive
Charleston
Simon
Waltz
Salsa
Gosh it's not until I had to think about it that I realised that I haven't really been wowed by many dances this year.
Caroline's charleston & paso
Simon's AT & jive
Frankie's tango & ?
Jake's salsa & waltz
Not bothered about seeing any of Mark's dances again to be honest. Would rather see a couple more from Caroline & Simon.
Judges' choice:
Caroline & Pasha - American Smooth
Frankie & Kevin - Paso Doble
Jake & Janette - Tango
Mark & Karen - Samba
Simon & Kristina - Salsa
Couples' choice:
Caroline & Pasha - Charleston
Frankie & Kevin - Tango
Jake & Janette - Salsa
Mark & Karen - Charleston
Simon & Kristina - Argentine Tango
Caroline & Pasha: American Smooth
Frankie & Kevin: Waltz
Jake & Janette: Jive
Mark & Karen: Samba
Simon & Kristina: Charleston
Couples' Pick:
Caroline & Pasha: Charleston
Frankie & Kevin: Tango
Jake & Janette: Salsa
Mark & Karen: Charleston
Simon & Kristina: Argentine Tango
Caroline - Charleston
Frankie - the Wicked one
Jake - the first 'hips' one
Mark - er, AS?
Simon - er, AS?
All the Latin dances have just become generic disco to me. Kevin's choreography isn't exactly true to the dance-style. I often can't quite 'tell what it is yet'.
Had it been Pixie I'd have said Tulips and 40s Housewife. Also maybe sci-fi Romans.
Caroline - American Smooth (to see it without the mistake), Charleston (I think this looked good even without the dancers, so could work); other options: AT, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive
Frankie - Viennese Waltz, Paso Doble (2 dances which were great for her and were done long ago enough to have a visible improvement in); other options: AT, Tango, Waltz, Jive
Jake - AT (rehashed, would have looked better without the extra dancers), Salsa (his best dance imo); other options: AS, Quickstep, Samba, Charleston (although I would like him to do his Jive again too)
Mark - Waltz, Jive (2 'breakthrough' dances for him, again, done long enough ago to have made improvements); other options: Quickstep, Foxtrot, Samba, Charleston
Simon - Waltz, Charleston (a dance which could have got 10s and a breakthrough dance); other options: AS, AT, Jive, Salsa
Stand-out dances:
Caroline - AT, Charleston, Jive, Salsa
Frankie - Tango, AT, Paso, Viennese Waltz
Jake - Salsa, Samba, Charleston (plus AS although I didn't think it was that good)
Mark - Waltz, Jive, Samba, Charleston
Simon - AT, Foxtrot, Waltz, Charleston
Dances which were good but could be improved:
Caroline - AS, Rumba, Quickstep
Frankie - Waltz, Jive, Samba
Jake - Tango, Waltz, Quickstep, Jive
Mark - American Smooth, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz
Simon - Quickstep, Salsa, Samba (Simon lost it in the middle and couldn't get back), Jive
^ So they all have about 7 or 8 dances that would be good to choose from. Personally I'd say one stand-out plus one 'improver' is probably the norm for most, so Frankie could have Waltz and Paso for instance (although I doubt that and if she did do a Ballroom it would almost certainly be her AT that was chosen, meaning Caroline can do her AS again and Simon could do his Waltz again).
Apologies for the ramble
I would really like Mark to do his Charleston again if he's through, and Jake's salsa for sure.
American Smooth
Charleston
Frankie and Kevin
Paso Doble
Quickstep
Jake and Janette
Jive
Salsa
Mark and Karen
Samba
Charleston
Simon and Kristina
Jive
Argentine Tango
Lord only knows what joys her Showdance would have provided.
Hence: she needed getting rid of. Shame
Final is not final without best dancer. Simplesasthat. Ta.
(ps her Cha cha was pants though, grrr)
