I bet we get an annual Thatcher Day out of this too.
If that means a new public holiday, I am sure all those that don't support her will want to carry on working. They would not wish to be associated with anything connected with her

I take it you work the May Day bank hol then Martin?
It does look like that - nobody has posted anything since last night.
Trouble is - if someone comments on something that's been said on the radio, you can't really post a response to it on another thread.
Similarly, if I think certain LBC presenters are being overly fawning and adulatory I'd have to post that comment on this thread, then post my reasons for saying so elsewhere.

It's never going to work is it?
It was working pretty well. The point of it was to stop this thread turning into a political talking shop, with long posts that go completely off topic.
I agree, which is why I argue that Mrs Thatcher should not be given the same type of funeral as Churchill as it diminishes (to borrow clitheroe 1's word) Churchill by rendering him no longer unique.
Four former British prime ministers have had the honour of a full state funeral . Margaret Thatcher is to have a ceremonial funeral which is somehow different to a state one.

I believe the difference is that the body does not lie in state with the ceremonial funeral.
Steve also did a tribute in his show as well Makeba...Trust you are ok by the way.:)
Ah - thanks for that. Haven't caught up yet (and to be honest, may miss out the Thatcher podcasts, as I don't share Steve's views on her).
As for me, I should get my results this Friday, but given that they haven't been in touch since, I'm hoping that's a good sign. All the very best to you and yours, too, BTW.
Except LBC don't usually broadcast Big Ben's 'bongs'. I think it is copyright to the BBC to use them.
That does remind me, many years ago I was doing a disco on New Year's Eve. At midnight I put on a recording of 'bongs'. After the initial 'bing bongs' there is a short pause, and I then mixed in a cuckoo clock !!

The family have said they will be contributing to the funeral costs.

Yes, if you want an in-depth discussion on a political topic, that has been mentioned on LBC, that is the place for it.
Point taken.
I'll get my coat.

I think it was Nick Ferrari (or James O'Brien) that mentioned it this morning.
:eek: :mad::mad:

That gave me a good laugh amid all the doom and gloom.
Thank you, Martin.
No, Chin. Not until this time tomorrow at the very least.
If then.
Of course, NF is discussing important things like the latest fashion news. Police uniforms. Details of a procession.
It can only be the Chinchin fan club AGM !
Hmm *thinks*
Anyhow as LBC is such a fan of London I thought people might like to see this:
