CDs in my car in the hot weather

I've just been wondering whether the CDs I play when I'm driving along could get overheated and melt once I've parked ang got out my car.

Is it safe to leave them in or should I eject them and take them into the house. They always seem really hot.

If they do at least you know you can also cook food in your cd player. Could come in handy if you stop at a shop, pick up a cold pasty and want it warmed.

Yes, I know; but I've given serious advice on this thread before, and have received same.

Then again, I know my question is taken as crap.

No they'll be absolutely fine. I have driven cars in far hotter countries than the UK (UAE, Oman) and the CD's seemed to survive OK.

Are they going to be any hotter when parked, then when driving?

I've measured the plastic surfaces in my car up to 70°C when left in the sun (about the temperature of a hot drink made at home); I'd guess the melting point of a CD would be a bit more than that, and you wouldn't leave it in direct sunlight.
