ASUS F3M Laptop won't turn on

Laptop had been working fine until last night; I shut it down and as it was shutting down it said "Going into standby mode" - however when I tried to turn it back on nothing happened. I tried it again today and the laptop will not turn on at all. The only activity is below the touchpad, a green light is underneath a small picture of a lightulb. :confused:

Any help appreciated thanks!

    Try removing the battery and mains lead, leave it 5 min then plug just the mains lead back in and see if it powers up, if it does then power off and put battery back and try.

    Green bulb is either mains power light or battery charge light.

    thanks for the reply; I tried doing that but it still won't come on :confused:

    I also tried holding down the power button for 45 seconds but again, nothing
