Sky "News"?!

They've just devoted the best part of half an hour to the "Breaking News" story that Beckham is not going to get his 100th cap.
Is this the best attempt they have at a serious news story?
Talk about "dumbing down"

I am a footie fan - and it's still annoying me!
He hasn't played a game in how long? So Capello refuses to give him a sympathy cap and there are Sky running after Sven to ask him if he "has any message for David?"
    Please!!!

If this is off topic for this thread then tell me off but............

    WHO CARES :p

(don't mean the half hour sky dedicating this BTW) but it's BECKHAM FFS! Rooney or Owen wouldn't get this much attention about a stupid cap would they?

Its' been widely reported in national newspapers and on the BBC from earlier in the week that Becks would not get the cap (at least this time round), not my idea of breaking news but then everything on Sky is ''breaking news'' which just devalues the coinage:eek:

This is an event that has happened in real life so yes it is "News"

Sky are not the only ones reporting on this.

If you think thats bad pick up any newspaper tomorrow and look at the back page.

Beckham not getting his 100th cap. End of story it needs no more, but there will be loads here for reporters and journalists to chew over for days on end, they just love it:D

I confess I haven't seen any of this, but the point is surely the amount of time devoted to it. If it is as the OP suggests, it seems a tad excessive, particularly in view of the fact that there is quite a lot going on today.

You might see it as news but to be honest its sports news,
Sky have a Sports News channel that should be used for this. On the main news channel it should only get no more than five minutes in the sports bit.

As to you your newspaper comment....really where else would you expect to find sports news in a newspaper

The BBC have just done about two minutes on it almost at the end of a half hour bulletin, which seems reasonable.

I love it when that ( fire ) alarm goes off at sky. I 'd just wish the presenter would say sorry but I have to go and just leave us with an empty studio.:)
