Was surprised how few shops John Lewis has considering the media space they get. RIP Comet, less competition means higher prices - do they ever decide to lower prices for no reason?
Less competition does not mean higher prices, only "no" competition would mean that, there's plenty of competition out there to keep Currys prices down.
If Woolies can come back as an online-only brand after that meltdown, nothing to stop Comet I suppose
Well there was Alworths that failed after Woolworths so we will see how this new Comet venture goes. It mentions opening a chain of stores sounds like Best buy can't see it working.
If I was a supplier, I would be weighing up whether its worth supporting an online Comet, all it would do is drive down prices at PC World / Currys, resulting in the loss of the main retail floorspace for showrooming.
In addition, Comet's brand is perhaps not the strongest, can't see anybody falling over themselves to buy unless much cheaper than the alternative, which brings us back to undercutting DSG, and speeding their demise.
Probably better to let sleeping dogs lie.

Woolworths never really came back as an online though, It is one of several brands operated by the Home Shopping Group, they license the Woolworths brand from Foot Locker, but have no connection too Woolworths Group PLC.

Good job, those bloodsuckers deliberately wound the place up to cash in.

They are clearly refitting or refurbing the large site.
I didn't notice.
I was wondering if 'someone' has taken over all the Comet sites, or this is just a one-off.
It's a big site, on a retail park.
