New nano compatability?

I have read in reviews that the new ipods are not compatable with some old accessories such as docking stations and FM transmitters. I have just got a new nano for christmas and wondered if anyone knew the extent of the problem. What are the chances that my new nano will work in my current docking station?

Also I wondered about the layout of the screen when music is playing. It seems to be dominated by the album artwork. If i dont have artwork will it just be a mostly blank screen?
