Longest has been 18 hours I think. That was 2 years ago when I didn't eat breakfast, I didn't eat lunch, but finally ate at teatime.

For a very long time when I was a child. As a adult? Not long at all

It depends what you mean by 'food'.

If you mean conventional food, then 150 days on a vlcd.

If you mean any nutrition at all, then probably 24 hours max.

For 4 days I lived off water (lots of it!) and one can of diet coke a day.

4 days when I ran out of money while travelling. Survived by drinking orange juice.

I wouldn't advise anyone to do the same. I felt dizzy and had vision problems towards the end of it. I started eating again when i was threatened with forced injections. Once i got my appetite back, it came back with a vengeance.

For about a month, one meal every 24 hours, back at uni where I couldn't afford breakfast & lunch (I had gone over my overdraft limit and couldn't get any more money out).

    (still drank tap water though)
