Only watched the first two eps but I'm feeling slightly underwhelmed.. Having a bit of focus on every single character have made these eps feel to jam packed with not a lot going on and messy. Hopefully it gets better!

I've only watched the first two so far as well. I can see why they did it for the Mother's Day episode but I hope it's not going to continue that way.
I'm also a bit gutted that we've seen the last of Bennett for this season. Baby drama aside, he was my favourite staff character and I loved his reactions to Caputo/Healy/Pornstache etc general idiocy.

On episode 7 and still no improvement. The storylines they are giving Red are an insult to Kate Mulgrew's talent. Red was a force in season 1, a pussycat in season 2 and now this season she is the agony aunt.

As for Alex and Piper, whom I disliked together in season 1, their relationship this season is not as dominating as I thought but the writers clearly haven't got a clue what to do with them.

It's painful to see the continuing downfall of this show as it continues. I highly doubt I will bother with series 4. Series 2 was hit and miss and Series 3 has simply been atrocious. Such a shame.
Also the departure of Natasha Lyonne imo is quite a blow and her absence is very much felt. However she pulls out a terrific performance in her final episode

Watching episode 7 at the moment

I think Capouto and that guy he had a pint with in episode 6 have a thing going

I'm gutted about that one too. I can understand actresses/actors wanting to move on to bigger things but selfishly I wish it could be done in a way so they're storylines aren't rushed and then squished into the first couple of eps and then that's that.

I finally finished last night. The finale leaves little to be desired and gives no indication of where season 4 will go. Would love 13 hours of my life back. Season 4 is a miss for me.

3 episodes in and not really impressed. I can't put my finger on why though. I think its moving to slow and has no real focus or central storyline.

    Ditto :(

It's good, but it's not great ~ or at least so far it's not. Hoping it's going to pick up.

I really like the social structures and dynamics. Series 3 changes this dynamic with new additions and departures (Berdie coming, Pornstache's mother visiting, the Kosher lady coming, the woman involved with Alex and Piper and Bennett leaving) , the structures change aswell (The private ownership of Litchfied and all the stuff surrounding that involving Capouto and the rest of the staff, the new job and Red back in the kitchen)

Was pretty bored with this series overall and there was some crappy plots. The 'Norma Christ' storyline was stupid, the Black Jewish woman story was boring and having to watch a flashback of minor characters who looked the exact same despite got really tedious. The funniest was Big Boo in the gay bar. Piper as some prison gangster was just ridiculous and Ruby Rose is abysmal at acting. The porn stories by Crazy Eyes and the fan following was just weird.

The only realistic thing that happened in the show was Bennett leaving half way through after coming to his senses. In reality he must have read the scripts. The ending was just 'ugh, give me a break'.

I'm on Episode 12. There's a bunch of spoilers coming up so if you've not seen this far be aware...

    The bad:

This season has been a let down. It's not *bad* but it's not great either.

Getting rid of two main characters early on was a huge mistake.

Suzanne was wasted this season. 2 episodes of her struggling with Vee's departure and then it's over with - instead we get the daft storyline about her writing this erotic sci fi epic.

The revelation that Piper got Alex returned to prison was dealt with in pretty much one episode, then it was a rerun of their relationship with nothing new happening.

Some of the backstories were just pointless and added absolutley nothing. An amish meth head? The silent hippy? Wrestling?

Ruby Rose is a bad, bad actress.

Lori Petty was fine in a guest spot but she's poor this season.

There's no real peril or tension. No threat to any of the characters - even the strory of Alex expecting a 'hit' is tension free.

    Panties. Panties?

Norma and her followers. What were they thinking?

    The good:

Pensatucky and Boo. They had interesting backstories and their friendship was an unexpected development. Taryn Manning was especially good this season.

The performances - barring Ruby Rose and Lori Petty - were excellent.

Jason Biggs doesn't feature at all.

I know the bad list is far longer than the good - but I did enjoy this season. It was fine. But after the first two seasons I was hoping for much more.

It's ok but I am not enjoying it as much as the previous seasons.

    Positives
-I enjoyed finding out the back stories of Boo, Chang and Norma.
    -Boo and tucky
-Still has plenty of funny lines

    Negatives
-Piper and Alex, I really liked Alex but their relationship is boring me to tears, I nearly ended up skipping their drama class scene.
    -The underwear storyline
-No tension throughout the season like we had with the Vee storyline.

I've got as far as halfway through the first episode in S3 and it seems so flat. I haven't bothered to check, but I wonder if there's a new producer/director/main writer? I've been looking forward to the new season as well. Perhaps it's just me on a bad night. I'll give it another go later on.

I am watching them in blocks and I just finished watching episodes 8,9 and 10.

I feel sick due to pornstasche and his mother scheming to get that unborn baby, get a paternity test once the baby is born. A leopard does not change its spots regarding that prison scene.

No wonder Alex is paranoid being stalked by that psycho bitch lolly. Lolly going on about the NSA what a load of bs.

Luschek: Not happy that he walks around as if nothing happened. Speaking of the staff I predict a riot due to the MCC stuff.

So nice to see Red and the Latino's getting along.

I thought Judy King would be going to Litchfield guess not but there is a possibility

I finished it Saturday afternoon and I loved it. It wasn't as good as the first 2 series but I think there's a lot of potential now for series 4.

I loved the lake scene, I thought that was a perfect way to end it with the contrast with what was happening at the prison while they were out.

I think series 4 will be good, we've got a whole host of new inmates (including Judy King), bunk beds in all the pods which will cause tension and I'm assuming even more cut backs. I'm also looking forwards to the fall out of the guards walking out.

Is anyone else noticing a trend of youngish straight women claiming to be doubting their sexuality and want to become faux-lesbians because of Ruby Rose? She looks like Justin Bieber and can act about as well as him. Even seeing her naked I was wondering what the big deal was? Any women here 'melting' over her?

I thought that this was a really poor season. The first 2/3 of it seemed like complete filler. It got a little better towards the end but it was still not great.

I don't buy Piper as this "gangster" character and whoever came up with the Norma season long storyline needs to be fired.

There were good things in this season. Pensatucky and Boo was really good and I wish it had been expanded over the season and then dealt with the consequences of their decision not to get revenge and how they cope with the rape of another girl being on their conscience. I enjoyed Caputo's turn to the darkside as he finally decides to put himself first. I thought that they could have focused more on Soso and Pouseey's struggle to cope with loneliness and depression and really built up to the suicide attempt.

I think next season they need to have one major long season storyline (and start building it from episode 1), focus on 3 or 4 people and let everybody else be supporting characters.
