Wow, it's like the idiot spent half an hour googling the LF threads and didn't scroll down enough to notice that most of his arguments had been comprehensively proven to be lies over and over again for the past decade.

The Director General has no power to do that. Probably the author knew that and the headline writer didn't.

The headline undermines the article because it suggests the author has no clue.

But as ever with ideas like this, the aim is to destroy the BBC because there is no way a subscription model is a public service.

The author of the Guardian article is a true-blue neo-Conservative.

The thing about these new right-wingers in the UK is what liars they are, they never say what they really want. Such sneakiness reveals a contempt for the public really.

If they would just come out and admit they want the BBC shut down, at least it would be honest.

"Mark Wallace is executive editor of ConservativeHome.com. A former Campaign Director of the TaxPayers' Alliance"

    That explains that one then.

Making it a subscription service wouldnt change anything and would be near impossible to do. As per its broadcasting license being a PSB it must broadcast FTA on DTT and DSAT, which means anyone with a basic Freeview box, a Freesat box or any other FTA Satellite receiver would never be able to subscribe and it would annoy a lot more people.
