I rarely cook a full english, I normally go to a cafe. A full english for me is 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, 2 eggs, 2 hashbrowns, tomatoes, mushrooms, 2 slices of white bread and butter. A cup of tea on the side.
Mine is sausage, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, black pudding, beans, tomatoes, hash browns, fried bread, 2 rounds toast with low fat spread (have to watch the cholesterol ya know) finished off with a mug of rosy lee.
I don't like hash browns (aren't they American?) - the way the oil oozes out makes me feel ill - same with fried bread. I prefer two rounds of buttered toast to accompany.
Two eggs, smoked bacon, sausage, tomato, mushroom, beans (NOT Heinz as they are too sweet and bland, I prefer Branston's beans. Used to always have HP beans, but Heinz bought out HP and I can't find their beans any more)
I quite like the caribbean variation of having some fried plantain and spicing up the beans with a bit of chilli.
I also had a wonderful cooked breccie in Scotland with some haggis added in - delicious!
Finishing touch definilty a large mug of tea. My mouth is watering now.
yum - i love a big full breakfast - i love an ulster fry with potato bread, soda bread, bacon, sausage, black pudding, fried egg and fried tomato - Yum!
All went well, cleared plates!!! First 3 eggs broke so I ate those then luckily the next ones were all perfect, lovely. Just did bacon, eggs, sausages, grilled tomatoes, baked beans and fried bread and toast. Forgot the hash browns and we have some frozen.

Next time, do them a continental breakfast and ask them which they preferred!
I know this thread is about the full English breakfast, but I'm Scottish and to me a fry-up is nothing without Lorne(Sliced Sausage)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sliced_sausage.:)
Can't go wrong with a roll, square sausage and potato scone
Just read through this thread and I'm now, even though it's 11pm, CRAVING a fry up!
Might treat the family to one in the morning, minus the black/blood pudding!

Agreed. Full breakfast is bacon, square sausage, black pudding, (maybe white pudding also), fried tattie scone, fried bread, mushrooms, grilled tomato, baked beans, 2 rounds of toast with marmalade and washed down with a mug of tea.

Keeps you going all day.:D
You can't not ahve Fried Bread.When-ever I have a "Full English" in a Cafe, It has to have Fried Bread - otherwise i'll not entertain the breakfast in said Cafe!
Hash browns. Somehow they seem to have crept across the Atlantic. I wouldn't consider them part of a traditional English breakfast, but I suppose we have to move with the times.

No - I wouldn't consider them, full stop. There's no point to them,
I know the breakfast that started this thread is done now, but I have to admit to not actually liking fried bread. or grilled tomoatoes (eeuch)
My breakfast would be 2 good quality sausages, bacon, loads of mushrooms, fried eggs, or scrambled, or poached, baked beans, a massive amount of tea (hot so it washes all that fat from the edges of my innards) and then instead of friend bread, I prefer a few rounds of thick doorstep cut WHITE bread and butter (not spread). Perfect for clelaning the plate with.
I've just finished my dinner, but would consider sitting down to all that right now....

Hash browns are really a pathetic British imitation of an excellent US original. The hash browns you get in that States are more like a Swiss rosti, grated potatoes formed into a kind of pancake.

I used to buy some which had onion in them, from one of the big supermarkets, but can't remember which. They don't have onion in any now. It makes them tastier.

I'd love to try proper American ones because I have thus far been unmoved by the ones I've tried in Britain and Ireland.

That's all that fatty food, washed down with a diet coke.

If the sausage is the Richmond type rubbish then for me the breakfast is more than half way to being ruined. Even decent bacon does not compensate.
