    Same here :) .

Also, our local police force have a website that includes flight information - ie the purpose of the deployment of the helicopter - updated daily.
Maybe you could check your police force's website tomorrow OP if they too have that information posted :) .

    Thanks I'll check that out.

The reason I'm a bit spooked is because there were some really odd noises in the area last night around this time so, I was wondering if it had something to do with that. Also I guess I'm being nosy!

Thank you all for the responses. Its stopped now so I'm off to bed, night.

    No probs mintchocchip, you're welcome :) .

Oh - and just had a quick check, and depending which part of the country you're in it seems that some police forces do in fact have aeroplanes.

Night, hope you get to find out what it was tomorrow :) .

To be fair I haven't seen it and I just thought it sounded like a plane. I guess it could have been a chopper but it sounded like what I think a plane sounds like:confused:.

Durham Constabulary used to have a 'plane, but are now down to two 'copters - Apparantly plans are afoot to reduce that to just the one chopper.

Quieter in the West Midlands recently since the police helicopter got a bit too close to the Air Support Unit barbecue.:D

I think there are only 3 or 4 forces with fixed winged aircraft, PSNI and Hampshire are two and I think there is also one in the North East of England.

I think Hampshire have a small plane too.

The only other thing I can think of is you are near a navigation beacon and someone is doing holds around it
