I'm kind of torn with this one. While I fully believe that anyone should be allowed to carry on with their life, I also probably wouldn't want him playing for my club.

As a Blade, I'm completely torn (although this is not new news - must have been a slow day at sky).
On the one hand, he will have served the custodial part of his sentence, and be deemed fit to be released. On that basis, he should be allowed to work. Lots of professional footballers have returned to playing after going to jail.
On the other hand, do I really want my team to be best know for having a convicted rapist as a player? Would it adversely affect the team? Indeed, would the other players want to play with him?
Of course, the only reason why this is even newsworthy is because for that season, Evans was playing brilliantly. If he had been crap, no-one would care what happens on his release
Why though? He's served his time, are you saying he shouldn't be allowed to work again?
I wondered how long that would take.
Which bit of him being convicted in a court of law and not finding any grounds to appeal since do you think is wrong?
Yeah, I think that's a perfectly reasonable position to take. He's served his sentence and therefore I believe he should be allowed to continue with his life, and of course that involves being able to return to his profession of choosing. However, football is a high profile profession with an almost unique social and cultural element. I think fans have every right to still be appalled by his crime, and express a desire not to have him at their club.
You could maybe draw a parallel with the way people may turn their backs on particular entertainers who have committed crimes. Football is even more intense because you're being asked to actively cheer someone on, rather than say in the case of a film director where the art can, to a certain extent, be separated from the maker more easily.
1. There was absolutely no evidence presented that the victim either did not consent, or was too intoxicated to give informed consent.
2. Evans co-accused, the one who met and took her to the hotel, was acquitted. If she was capable of consenting to him, then why wasn't she capable of consenting to Evans?
3. The victim boasted to her friends about getting a 'big win' after the trial.
Juries sometimes make big mistakes - and this was one such case.
As for the he wasnt guilty, well he was found guilty and no matter what we think the jury made the verdict on the evidence presented. FACT!
Since working in any field means you be working with women with that view point no convicted rapist should ever be allowed to work again? So the taxpayer will be funding them for life?
Odd idea. Would you also prevent him socialising with women?
Heh, yeah, I was struggling to think of a male only profession with no female particpation whatsoever.
Well, yeah. But he was wrongfully convicted - juries aren't infallible.
it's totally unimportant if he did or not. That has nothing to do with this topic
A monk in a closed order?
I doubt that Mr Evans has the Latin.
Of course it does - he still maintains his absolute innocence.

He's shown NO remorse and hasn't even apologised to the victim who now has her whole life ruined, where as he gets to rake in a fortune every-week with a big smile on his face.
Actually I think you will find that all three points are quite factual. The wording of the petition, however, is incredibly misleading as there was never ANY suggestion of violence towards the woman. She had no injuries at all.
It don't matter what he says or anyone else says.
You could maintain Elvis served you in a shop last week
It would be an entirely different matter if he had admitted guilt and was looking for forgiveness. But as far as he is concerned he is the one whose life has been ruined and I think he will continue the fight to clear his name even after release.
No we don't, have you read the petition? Full of misandristic nonsense.
Ah so it's not him working that's the issue it's the level of money? Let's put him on minimum wage for life? Who judges what a hugh amount of money is?
Like a poster saying he is innocent is not the issue neither is him admitting or not admitting he is guilty. He was found guilty that's the only relevant fact along with he has served his sentence set down by law
