Playstation 3 audio problems

Is there a way to update the audio codecs of the Playstation 3 ? I've done the firmware update but I'm still finding the occasional downloaded movie that will not play any audio or is garbled at least, they play fine on my PC and will play on my DVD player via it's USB input but for some reason my PS3 won't play it.

any ideas ???

    What is the audio codec of the movie file? If it's WMA or DTS then it's not going to work and will require re-encoding to MP3 or AC3.

    To answer the question, no you cannot update the PS3's codecs.
