Runners! - Sweatshop Custom Insoles

I visited Swaetshop today to get me some decent footwear sorted out as I get terrible shin splints when I run. I came away with the just the custom insoles as I was not prepared to pay £90 for trainers plus the £40 for the insoles.

Has anyone just purchased the insoles and how much of a difference do you think they made? I have a 30 day trial so I can take them back and get my money back if they don't suit.
