The Last TV DVDs You Bought

The last TV DVDs that I bought were Keeping Up Appearances The Essential Collection, The Green Green Grass series 2 & 3 plus Doctor Who Legacy Collection featuring Shada plus a 30th anniversary documentary shown on BBC2 in Sept 1993. I got these yesterday. :) Troubled store HMV has got a month long blue cross sale on. Apart from the Dr Who release, the rest of the DVDs I got, are part of that with 25% off each.

It's great because I got the KUA box set for £15. I had a look on amazon earlier and the lowest it is being sold for on there, so far is £18.50. I certainly got a bargain. The box set has got 8 discs too! :D

Since I moved to UK I've been in LOVE with the old British television shows, so the last DVD I bought was a Boxset of a show called On The Buses. Before that I got Only Fools and Horses.

I love them! I took them back home to America to watch on my Laptop and got my old thug of a Grandaddy watching them too.

Can anyone recommend any old shows like this? Being a 20 year old American I don't get all the references but I enjoy them anyway

Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. It's so funny with accident prone Frank Spencer and his wife Betty. I found the Best of DVD in a charity shop last week. It features 5 full episodes.

Oh! It's so lovely to read that you're really enjoying these VERY british comedies. Only Fools is my most favourite thing ever! I would recommend One Foot In The Grave, and Jonathan Creek, The Likely Lads and Rising Damp. One thing I would say all these shows have in common is they all have real warmth and a protagonist you really care deeply for. I love that! You could even watch something more recent like Men Behaving Badly, or Father Ted. Both great!

As for the subject of the thread, the last uk tv dvd I bought was Getting On series 3, really great!

Yus My Dear, with the late Mike Reid,
Don't Drink The Water, the spin off to On The Buses, and
Mother Makes Five, with Wendy Craig,

Love my old comedies, beats anything they have on nowadays, apart from Miranda, and The InBetweeners

I got some vouchers for my birthday and Christmas, so...

Call the Midwife (series 1. Will get the Christmas special when the price comes down a bit)
    The Paradise (series 1)
    Death in Paradise (series 1)
    South Riding
    Return to Cranford
    Horrible Histories (series 1 -3)
The Muppet Show (series 2 and 3)

We already have most of the great old comedies which other posters have mentioned on DVD, as my husband is an avid fan of shows like On The Buses, Last of the Summer Wine and Only Fools and Horses.
