'Northern' sounding names

Hi all :)

I am doing a bit of creative writing and was wondering if you could come up with some 'Northern' sounding forenames, but not ones that sound Victorian i.e. Ernie etc.

So far I've come up with Keeley, Elaine and Aaron. :o I really can't think of any more! Any genuine feedback would be appreciated! :)

The only person I know called Keeley is from Mansfield. Maybe that means it's Northern. Not sure though...

I don't think any first names are particularly Northern. Might be better thinking in terms of the socia-economic class of the characters.

In the great northern tradition of our family we named ours Ecky and Hecky, our surname is Thump so we felt it was more than appropriate

Cyril, Wilf and Fred, and Hilda, Nellie and Betty, sound Northern to me. But that is probably just because I don't know anyone down in the South with those names. And my outlook on life is entirely sculpted by television programmes!

My gran is called Nellie. Name your character after my gran. Unless it's erotic fiction.

Yeah, I see what you're saying there.

Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire often interlate socially and Mansfield is not that from South Yorkshire so... yeah! I guess by Northern I'm talking anywhere north of Birmingham!

I suppose what I mean is they just have that 'thing' about them where they just sound northern. Elaine and Keelye in particular do create that impression of 'northern' in my head. I suppose it's an abstract conecept.

I have relations in London with some of those names. Betty = Elizabeth, Nellie = Eleanor or Helen, Wilf = Wilfred, Fred = Frederick

There was an Elephant called Nellie too, not sure if she was Northern India or N. Africa though.
