Hi

Just had someone adjust the French doors with Allen keys and its perfect now

Seems like my bedroom window have dropped so it rubs the which catch at bottom more now.

How do you adjust them? so the window goes higher or lower if needed,
They are standard windows with friction hinges at top and bottom.

Usually it means the casement has twisted/dropped, hinges are shot and need replacing with some good quality ones.

However sometimes a good whack with a mallet from and experienced installer can sought out some hinge gap issues.

Why didn't you ask the person sorting your patio door?

Take beading out and adjust the packers between the glazing and the frame.

That just moves the glass in it's frame.

imo the reply is nearer the truth, if the window in question hasnt got a central vertical strut and has a window that opens above, thats the problem. taking the beading out again will allow you to reset it when opening and shutting the window.

but the problem is how to replace the uppermost beading without causing the original issue because the beading needs hitting upwards causing the horizontal part of the frame to bow upwards a tiny amount, too much.

I cut a piece of softwood and put it in to the above opening, (after opening the above window). when replacing the beading and hitting the rubber mallet upwards, the wood stopped the movement of the horizontal length from bending upwards and solved it

indeed and as its the glazing that provides the strength for the windows, that it what needs adjusting
