Like Cif is Jif, Starbursts are Opal Fruits and Snickers are Marathons, Sugar Puffs will remain so called, with me.

Yes, we Luddites are still here.

    Quite. Emmerdale Farm anyone? :)

They always remind me of Bart Simpson's favourite breakfast cereal, which says on the box, "Only sugar has more sugar!"

Honey Monster Puffs sounds awful. Sugar Puffs has been around for ages.

No matter what, they are still puffs, and that's the most important thing.

I think they should be "Puffs! And Proud of it!"

I'm peckish now. Perhaps I'll have a couple of crumpets (stashed in the freezer)
with a good slathering of Icantbelieveitsnotbutter

I would have thought a cereal named Sugar Puff's is a pretty bad name from a PR standpoint. I mean it never has exactly screamed healthy nutritious breakfast. I think the public know this as well because Sugar Puff's are hardly a best seller by any stretch of the imagination.

They used to be best sellers when I were a lad! Loved 'em!

Would never have touched anything called Honey Monster Puffs though.

They should rename them Honey Puffs and call that yellow thing the Sugar Monster, changing its colour to white.

In the pictures in the article, it quite clearly shows on the box they will say
    "HONEY MONSTER
    Sugar Puffs"

Not all that much change really.

(and really, is anyone reading the story before commenting??)

I love Sugar Puffs and love them even more since they reduced the sugar in them,

Agreed, that they should have just changed it to Honey Puffs.

It also quite clearly captions that picture with "Sugar Puffs (pictured in their current form) will be being rebranded as 'Honey Monster Puffs' and will contain less sugar and 20 per cent more honey"

The new box can be seen here

Fair enough, my mistake that time!

...but then that means they are already "HONEY MONSTER......(sugar) PUFFS" so there is hardly any change at all, what a fuss over nothing.

I thought they would rebrand the Puffs part as it sounds like poufs.

Not quite, they're "sugar puffs" officially but they have added the "honey monster" on the pack for quite a while now and have shrunk the size of the word "sugar" down. Clearly, they decided to drop "sugar" off the brand for quite a time ago and wanted people to get used to seeing "honey monster (sugar) puffs" on the shelves in advance of "honey monster puffs".

Might be more honest to rebrand them as "Diabetes in a box" .

Not fussed about the sugariness but I always found the texture rather off-putting.

Sugar Puffs have far too much sugar in them. Wouldn't recommend eating them on a daily basis. The same goes for Crunchy Nut and Coco Pops, diabetes in a bowl.

They should bring back John Cooper Clarke. And Henry McGee. Might struggle with the latter.

Am I the only one on here that actually like Sugar Puffs? I loved them as a child and recently bought some for my grand children. They turned their nose up in disgust. I find the smell of them very nostalgiac - takes me back to being a kid. I used to love them (still do) dry and straight from the box.

I love Sugar Puffs! I could eat some right now. Don't care what they're called as long as they taste the same :)

Is marketing strategy a thing because there are really enough people out there who don't know honey is sugar?
