Although these weren't crimes committed at 84 it's just now women feel safe enough to speak out. It could have happened at 50 if the climate had been supportive enough for victims.

I get the impression that Harris, unlike Savile (who was sociopathic), did, and does, feel guilt about his actions, its evident in his self-loathing and depression, and the need to constantly be working.
If Harris had been stopped early on, maybe many of those girls would never have had to suffer his appalling acts, and maybe he would have stopped or got the help he needed. The power and freedom that come with fame awakened a dark side which, had he never became famous, might well have never evolved.

That's a question only other men could answer. Why would a man - who we know never laid a hand on his own daughter - want to look at naked young women younger than his own daughter?
Why does any man of any age grab a copy of The Sun and pause to look at the topless model on page 3? he once said he was a 'late starter' in his youth where girls were concerned, maybe some men have a preference for late-teen girls and never grow out of it. The internet makes it all so easy and accessible to indulge this these days.
I'm just anticipating all the deniers wailing about the sentence when passed. You should read the comments on the Telegraph's site, hardly any of them accept Harris' guilt. They're all blaming the victims, 'It's all for compo' 'If this happened in the 70s no-one would bat an eye' 'How much is this costing the taxpayer to send an old man to jail' etc makes me really sick the hypocrisy of them, just because it's Rolf Harris and not some ordinary member of the public. If it was a benefit cheat you can bet your life they'd be baying for blood. Funny how it's usually the right-wingers who react this way! hmmm!:(

Quite, there is nothing wrong with being a sexual male, and nothing wrong with being attracted to an 18 year old, lets not all get hysterical about male sexuality. There is a vast difference between paedophilia and having normal attractions.
I accept the ruling of the court but my feeling is one of sadness rather than pleasure at seeing Rolf being found guilty. With Saville, King, Glitter etc my mind had no problem with seeing them as dirty old perverts. It's harder with Rolf. I would almost wish this had been a miscarriage of justice just so I don't have to accept that he is a paedophile. Now I just want him to go away to prison and never be heard from again so I can forget about it. It makes our childhood tv memories seem grubby. God knows how hard it must be for his actual victims.
