Nick Clegg has vowed that he will never be part of a coalition government that includes Ukip.

So no Con, Lib and UKIP coalition then.

Can't say I'm surprised about that one.

The thing is, number wise, if UKIP do exceedingly well, the Tories could well need the Lib's and UKIP to form a government.

If Nick Clegg loses his seat, we could still have a Tory/ LibDem/ UKIP coalition.

Conservatives will never go into coalition with UKIP either.

They'd bum their mum if it gave them a sniff of power.

    Funny post.

    Funnier post...

Made even funnier if combined with this one...

Does he REALLY think he'll be in a position to form a coalition after the lie he told at the last election?

It may well be a condition of forming a coalition with the Lib Dems that Labour insist they dump Clegg. At least then I won't have to listen to this smug insufferable man on his LBC phone in show each Thursday morning.

And more to the point UKIP wouldn't go in coalition with the lib dumbs. Their policies aren't compatible! Hardly rocket science.

You really think UKIP will get more MPs than LibDems? You know how hard it is for small parties (ie not the big two) to get (more than faint scattering of 'special circumstances/ local issues') seats?

    Interesting prediction.

It's unlikely that Clegg is going to be a member of a government that includes the Lib Dems. The cost of forming a coalition with Labour may be his head (they'd much prefer to work with Tim Farron as leader) and many Conservatives won't be keen to deal with him again.

Chances are that whoever is PM, Clegg will be offered a well paid non-job in Brussels to get him out of the way.

The LDs should just tell all the other parties to Foxtrot Oscar. See how well the country copes with minority government -- after all the ungrateful b*stards haven't given the LDs any credit for moderating the current lot, so let's see how they like a minority Tory administration which has to go cap in hand to Peter Bone and Phllip Davies every five minutes. Hope they choke on it.

The first couple of weeks after the election could be a lot more interesting than the 4 months leading up to it.

Farage has ruled out working with Cameron.
Clegg has ruled out working with Farage.
The Greens have ruled out coalition with anyone!
Could Cameron survive another election without a Tory majority?
Could Miliband survive an election result without a Labour majority?
Would Labour insist on the Liberals dumping Clegg as the price of coalition with them?
What about the SNP and Plaid Cymru with Labour?
    Unionists with Tories?
How desperate would the Tories need to be to get into bed with UKIP?

Before the kippers attack me on that last point, the Tories are mostly pro-business, and big business is mostly pro-EU.

Well there's a good reason to hope UKIP do really well at the GE.

Really? But if the Tories have the largest number of MPs Cameron will probably lead them so this is a stupid thing to say. But as UKIP is a part of protest, not one of government, it doesn't matter as they aren't likely to be wanted. Several better partners are available to whichever party ends up the biggest.

I wouldn't bet against a second general election in September or October.

When UKIP get a sizeable number of MPs which are not part of a coalition, Mr. Speaker will have one helluva job.

The other parties should tell the LDs to foxtrot off. It's just a bit much to see a party in fifth place on 6 per cent in the polls start going on about how they are going to decide the next government.

It's just supreme arrogance in the circumstances!

He wasn't "going on" about it. He was asked a question and he answered it. What's so arrogant about that?
