Arsenal to miss out on Top 4?

Obviously Man Utd are going to miss out, but what are the chances of Arsenal? They are floundering at the moment, and Everton have looked tasty all season (despite a blip in form recently). To go from genuine title contenders to missing out on the champions league next season, would that be it for Wenger?

Everton only 6 points behind with a game in hand, similar goal difference, seven games to go with arsenal having to go to goodison. Everton also only have the premier league to concentrate on. Although in the interest of fairness, Arsenal are only 6 points behind the league leaders atm (still 200/1 for the league though, and again in the interest of impartiality, United are about 1000000/1).

Arsenal are 4th place specialists. I think their experience will see them thru.

Not going to happen. Even if they beat Arsenal at home and win their game in hand to go level they have, Man U, City and Southampton away in their last four games. Arsenal on the other hand have Hull, Newcastle, West Brom and Norwich.

They suffered from their punishing spring schedule like many thought they might, but a result of that schedule is that their run in is one of the easier ones. I think they'll make it like they always do but their game against Everton on the 6th April is potentially massive.

After Everton, Arsenal's fixture list is relatively straightforward and Koscielny, Ozil, Wilshere and Ramsey should be back touchwood.

Momentum is important and Everton have that now. But I think points on board will favour Arsenal.

Demicelis will revert to type and Arsenal will take full advantage (on Saturday anyway).

Arsenal always seem to get there in the end, even if they do have their wobbles along the way.

Amazing isn't it. They were leading the table for so long and now their Champions League spot is under threat. I've said all season that Arsenal would run out of steam.

Just saw the Paul Scholes comments on sky sports news

    Doesn't mince his words

Have to say I agree with him

And that it appears the same for United as well !

It's actually a very real possibility. If they lose on Saturday and Everton beat Fulham on Sunday - two results that are more than possible, then Everton move to only 3 points behind with a game in hand.

The next game they both have is against each other and if Everton win, they'll go above them on goal difference and still have a game in hand, which will be against Crystal Palace.

Their game in hand also comes before they face both Manchester teams as well so a potential 3 point gap will come in handy if things go wrong against one of those teams.

Obviously football being football, anything could happen, but as it stands, it's certainly not as forgone a conclusion as many Arsenal fans seem to think it is.

It happens every season, Arsenal finishing in the top four. I said in November we had no chance of getting top four and it remains my view.

Our battle is with Spurs, not Arsenal.

Doesn't look like it to me,

Ok your battle is with spurs, but it also now looks like you are well in the battle for 4th spot, win your game in hand and your 3 points off a stuttering Arsenal side

Beat Arsenal and your toughest remaining games would be Southampton away, and City at home

You've also got United at home, but without RVP not alongside Rooney And a hole list of other reasons, they just look very beatable

Our battle is very much with Spurs. We are not Arsenals equals and the cup defeat there said a fair bit about how far behind we are.

Finishing fourth is punching way way above our weight especially when you consider it would involve finishing above not just Arsenal but Manchester United as well. Arsenal are pretty ruthless against everyone bar the top sides.

Everyone saying Everton in fourth is a possibility are reliant on far too many ifs and buts and maybes.

Man U away isn't exactly a tough one these days, as for Southampton, well what can I say, they've won 6 out of 15 home games. Wow.

    But it is a possibility,

I'm not sat here saying Everton are going to get 4th, I'm sat here saying they could, its possible

I know Liverpool are a different kettle of fish to Everton but who'd have said we'd be right in the middle of a title race come the end of march? many would think we are punching above our weight too

Everton are in a CL place fight right now, for me thats a fact, your not bigger than Arsenal, but you've got some quality players performing very well this season, your playing decent football, you've got momentum winning 4 games on the bounce, Arsenal haven't, with 8 games to go and so close to 4th, you've got to battle for it, and I'm sure thats what the club are certainly aiming for now

True but they just have to play Man U at home now, as they already beat them at Old Trafford earlier in the season.

There is no way that Arsenal will miss out on the top 4.

Wenger covets the top 4 with a zeal that I cannot believe, although, judging by the current predicament of my own team, I can fully understand now.

It would be hilarious but the odds still favour Arsenal, that said when the fog of uncertainly descends funny things happen.

Indeed. Arsenal are a different animal when the CL carrot is in danger of evading them. Get them to play Chelsea away needing a win to secure 4th and watch Wenger come alive.

Joking aside, it must be hugely frustrating for Arsenal fans knowing this isn't too far from the truth.

The bookies are seldom very wrong on this and even before last night you could get 60/1 on them being champions.

i am not saying they would win it or even be likely. but they would have been something like 4-5pts off top if they had won, falling out of top 4 is just a no no for me as spurs and everton wont get close enough.

I still feel we, as an an Everton fan can get into 4th, but we would need City to beat Aresnal on Saturday, And us beat Fulham, I got a horrible feeling, we will slip up at possibly Fulham or Sunderland away though, it would just be like Everton.

I feel we will pick up points off the home matches against Aresmal and Man City, but not sure how many.

But realistically, , I feel a Europa League campaign, will be more than we would hve expected out of this season.

I think Aresmal winning The FA Cup, and us coming 5th, and entering the Europa at the Group Stage, which would take away, the qualifers straight after the WC.
