  Some great ones that I think are underrated are
  
  The Burning (1980)
  Don't be afraid of the dark (1973)
  Sisters (1973)
  Someone's Watching Me (1978) although that's probably more of a thriller. A bit of a forgotten classic from John Carpenter. I think he made that straight after Halloween.

  Not the greatest film but I enjoyed Stir Of Echoes and thought it was much better than The Sixth Sense that came out about the same time with a similar theme but seemed to get all the hype.
