Because (in the UK) newsreaders are NOT allowed to "give an angle" on the news.
They have to read it out and remain impartial and unbiased at all times.
No matter what the content or subject matter.
Don't you mean?
"Why are there no camp newsreaders?"
If you are going to start a daft topic, at least use the correct grammar.
Well said.
The OP is typing out 25+ posts a day, I'm pretty sure he's been here before under a different name or two (look at his threads) and I've little doubt the mods will send him off on a well deserved holiday before long;-)

How would a bulletin with a ''camp'' newsreader differ from any other bulletin ?
On British TV newsreaders have virtually no influence on the content of a bulletin, that is decided by the programme editor and senior producers. The BBC have a number of newsreaders who are openly gay but I have never noticed the bulletins they present are in any way different. The BBC also has a number of correspondents and presenters who are disabled but that has no bearing on their work, much to their credit.

I think the BBC should be held to strict targets as part of its diversity drive.
I demand two newsreaders camping it up during the bulletins each week. At a minimum.
And a Rabbi and a Jihadist - preferably hosting together.
As for the thread, perhaps the UK public might be slightly put off by male newsreaders wearing headgear made up of pink feathers

"I'm reliably informed" she subtly promotes her own products on the news.
"Nodding dogs."
+1
On the subject of camp newsreaders, what ever happens in camps?
Ok Butlins is a camp of sorts but I doubt if much happens in it to make it newsworthy.
What we need are (is) lots of gay newsreaders because I like happy people.
I'd rather have "gayer" news.
It's been pretty depressing lately.
Why are there no dwarf news readers ?
Why are there no handicapped newsreaders ?
Which is why it pains me to offer up a BBC news reader as a clear example of campness in my opinion.
Simon McCoy - on the BBC News Channel, the one who called Tomas Schafernacker "Petal" on air when cutting to the weather.
Now I'll go and hang my head in shame at bothering to reply to such daftness.
He's wetter than a haddock's bathing costume

Coming down the stairs in a feather boa, singing I Am What I Am whilst drinking a Pink Gin......it's a winning idea.
Agreed but coming from someone who thought a joke about child abuse was funny earlier maybe you should not judge so quickly.:)
