A Crow, A Cat and A Badger

I was woken up around 3am last night by a thump against the window. Wondering what it was I checked the CCTV feed and saw a crow stumbling around, which must have flown into the window.

It was being followed by a cat, and then the cat is followed by a badger as they disappear into the long grass.

This morning I went into the garden and saw some feathers and blood, so the cat must have got the crow.

Looked to me like the badger went off in the crow's direction. And since no corpse was found isn't it more likely a badger would eat the crow than a well-fed cat?

I wondered if the badger would have attacked the cat so I looked it up and it seems unlikely. Which is a shame as to restore the balance of nature cats being 'wild' and predatory could do with predators of their own..

We don't know if it was the cat or the badger who eventually got the crow.

I heard a noise after the badger ran towards the cat, but it didn't sound like a cat and a badger fighting, nor did it sound like a cat or crow fighting.

The crow was definitely killed though as there was too many feathers left for it to be alive.

Not sure why the crow flew into the window, it might have been chasing a moth or insect that was attracted to the porch light next to the windows.

Cor it all happens in my garden. Just been outside and found a dead young seagull.

Only look at the photo if you don't mind seeing dead animals.

This is most probably one of the parents.
