What's your favourite ballroom dance style?

For me it's the quick step. Just so uplifting and fun to watch. If any dance would motivate me to learn to dance it's that one :).

Me too! Love a good quickstep. I love it when they do classic Fred and Ginger ones on Strictly but don't mind when they go a bit zany too. The only thing that drives me mad is when someone does a slow quickstep - Pamela Stephenson and Lisa Snowdon I'm looking at you.

If I had to choose one ballroom dance to learn it would be the Viennese Waltz.

Read that as the Vanessa Waltz. Thought Vanessa Feltz had invented a new dance - which he probably did as I don't think she always followed the steps of the conventional ones :).

Quickstep. Then Viennese Waltz and Foxtrot. No faffing about SCD way, just dance.

Since its classified as Ballroom at Strictly , The Argentine Tango :).

But if we are talking Strictly Ballroom, then Its the Quickstep  (: Its high-energy, so much FUN but also quite difficult ; ) tied with the Ballroom Tango :).

Quickstep because it has fast elements to it. I don't like ballroom overall, prefer Latin.

    The foxtrot.
A supreme test of footwork, poise, control, posture and ability to tell a beautiful story.

If we're talking Strictly then I agree with those above who said quickstep.

But when it comes to "real" dance competition, the foxtrot (danced by top class dancers) takes some beating.

As for dancing myself, I love the tango best.

If it was ballroom, I would say Quickstep. Latin, Jive.

Ooh, I find it hard to pick one as I love all the ballroom dances, but it would have to be American Smooth. As Sumetra proved this weekend, it can be a lovely, flowing dance, which I love! :)

Ballroom: Tango, hands down. Quickstep too, and a good foxtrot is lovely but I personally find it pretty difficult!

Latin: Very tough to decide... I like all of them and go through phases what I like the best. I do love how the samba looks and the music it's danced to is the most infectious imo. I love paso doble as well... I like the different feeling it has to the other latin dances which are more fun/flirtatious.

I also love watching argentine tango and would love to learn how to do it but I feel like I need to find myself a hot man first. ;-)

I love them all, apart from the Rumba (if that is classed as ballroom). I think the music for the dance is really important, and also the the outfits they wear. Overall, I think the Quick Step is my favourite, especially when the man has a suit on, with the long jacket, and the music is 20's/30's/40's. I also really like the Paso, with Spanish'ish music, and the American Smooth (Fred and Ginger style).

No whirling dervish cameraman. That's a novel idea!
