My computer isn't recognizing my ipod nano and my ipod won't even connect to itunes.

When i plug it in it will charge but it's not showing the 'do not disconnect' screen.

I have tried installing itunes again and tried different USB ports.

I have googled but not had much luck.

Thanks in advance!

due to it being an old model maybe 2 years+ old and not been updated for sometime it could be causing an issue, also it is on a computer that is running old xp service packs and it also an old itunes

i have tried to update and use on my itunes but with no joy

There's a windows service (iPod something) running on your PC that has to be restarted, but in that case restart of the computer would help too. Since it is happening with 2 ipods problem very likely isn't in the devices, but with the computer.

My ipod would't connect to two diffrent machines, which is why I suggested a reset. But the do no disconnect screen was showing. Have you tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling a later version? From the apple specs website with your refrence to service packs:-

    Windows Software

    * Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, or 32-bit editions of Windows Vista

*64-bit editions of Windows Vista or later require the iTunes 8 64-bit installer
