Car Air Con Help
Hi, I have a Peugeot 307 and recently, the air con isn't really cold. The driver side right blower seems to blow out stronger normal air than the 2 middle ones, not sure if that's the issue?
Anyway, they all blow air, just not air con cold. It's like you've got a standard fan in front of you.
I went to Halfords today for their air con check, and they said from what it sounds like, it needs to be booked in with their mechanic?
Not convinced. I have found the connector under the bonnet where you can 'recharge' it yourself with one of those EZ cans. However, I then need the connectors which could set me back in total of about £50+!
Any ideas what I can do?
I also found a compartment under the bonnet which holds some kind of filter? There was a door to it which literally came off in my hand as one of the brackets has broke, behind that was a filter which was fairly clean - is it ok that this 'door' filter cover is a bit loose?
Thanks in advance.

If the system is leaking (pump, radiator or pipework) then it will cost a lot more.
I can't comment on your filter. Too vague.
cans are only good for a slight top up i have found.
did use halfords once they came out with a huge tin of charge on a single port...no good.
You get what you pay for. As I stated, it's important to have a leak test carried out, otherwise your newly charged gas could simply leak away.
Don't buy "Aircon Cans" and try to do it yourself. They are a waste of money and, in some situations, can actually be dangerous. Some people call them "Death Cans!"
The "Filter" sounds like the "Pollen Filter", though I could be wrong.
"Not convinced" of what?
Your air conditioning isn't supplying cold air, and the overwhelmingly likely reason is that it's in need of re-gassing.
Either pay someone to re-gas/service the system or don't - it's your money and your choice.
£££££££££......
But it was covered under warranty with Vauxhall.
So I took it to the dealer (Toyota) who charged more, but my air con is now icy cold. It really gets extremely cold! It wasn't 'broken' at all, it just needed re-gassing. My car's 15 years old and this is the first time the AC has been looked at. Previous owner never used it.
Toyota charged £90, but It was worth every penny. My idiotic mistake was going to Halfords first.
Bad But not as bad as Kwik Fit. they are still rip off merchants though, I use Red-Ex additive in my petrol. Halfords £8, Tesco £3.40.
Common problem on Peugeots apparently.
