There is little prospect of R&B and rhythmic pop falling out of favour anytime soon.
But if by some fluke it does and, say, rock makes a surprise comeback, then Global would go to Ofcom and ask for a format change on the grounds that its target audience's tastes have changed and it needs to reflect that.
It was played at least 3 times today from what I can see (all during network programmes) It is either because of the recent OFCOM change to Scotland/Birmingham licences or because, and I find this quite weird, Capital are supporting Coldplay on their UK tour. Hmm.
Come on, Capital. Put some of these specialist shows on during hours when people can actually hear them rather than tucking them away in the small hours.
Fridays should be like this:
19.00: Dave Kelly or James Barr in the mix
22.00: Andi Durrant
01.00 Sacha Brooks
04.00: Daytime playlist, automated or voicetracked
Then Saturday nights:
16.00: James Barr in the mix
19.00 Andi Durrant or Hed Kandi with David Dunne
22.00: Mash
01.00: Sacha Brooks
04.00: Daytime playlist, automated and voicetracked
Weekdays should have a drivetime mix request show, along the lines of the Vibe FM Mix Monkey from 6-7pm, and Kiss Fridays. Maybe replace the daytime playlist on Friday drive with this altogether. Break up the monotiny of the daytime output.

What Capital should be doing as a specialist show is a Steve Sutherland type Saturday night Urban show. This would be right in the target audience of Capital. A lot of stuff he used to play was old stuff people knew, new stuff that would probably be playlisted in a few months time anyway, and a sprinkling of stuff you had never heard. Perfect for Capital listeners to break up the normal playlist. The chart is full of urban music right now, why isn't this considered. Get someone like Sacha to present it. Andi Durrant should stay, they would be mad to let him go. and james barr and will cozens shouls be doing fri/sat night in the mix show. simple.
In other stuff, great to see Ant Payne on the network on Monday morning, he should be getting the gig over Luke Smith, who I think is Roberto in disguise? sound the same. Well done to Will Cozens on drive though, he's deserved a bigger role for a while. A new year schedule shake-up would do nicely please Capital
So has will cozens got drive permanently then? Or is he just doing it for a bit while Greg burns covers bfast, with Greg moving back to drive when the new bfast host is announced? I thinks wills underused on overnights
they must of ran out of options and been caught out with Johnny leaving as the bassman is on holiday rich clarke was supposed to be covering and will cozens was supposed to be covering rich obviously this has had a knock on effect and margherita was the next available option i am surprised James Barr hasnt been used on day time networking as he was a big name on galaxy which makes up most of the capital network then again who would cover overnights if he did
Margherita Taylor on Capital now... only took 10 months for her to be heard out of the 5am slot for a change!
Greg Burns tweeted he's on breakfast til Dec.
Until she gets shunted back to 5am again. She was so much better sounding in the Capital 95.8 days on mids, why do we need The Bassman when Margherita can do the show brilliantly.
Radio feels like such a male world, almost every station has a male on air at 10am with exception for probably some BBC Locals, and also Radio 1. It's nice to hear a female voice outside of breakfast and in daytime.

I wonder if they'll keep this up...

I thought so. Probably for the next 2 weeks as Christian is on drive for 2
says Media Guardian.
Press release says snowden is staying. So think it will be someone like Dave Berry or Rich Clarke co hosting with her.
JK & Joel might get evenings or weekend breakfast as part of reshuffle.
Ahh, now I know why she joined him on Saturday breakfast last week!
This could be something for the future.

This is what the Galaxy stations should be doing.
Dave Kelly's left though, he's at Bauer now.

I think Sacha should get mid-mornings
