Farage gets torn a new one by LBC (Merged)

Watch it here

It's hard hitting - O'Brien isn't the type to sit back and allow the normal rhetoric to pass unchallenged. In fact, he makes it his job to penetrate through the veneer, ask the tough questions that others seem to shy away from and he refuses to be palmed off with glib answers. UKIP supporter's who see this interview as evidence of bias are wrong - O'Brien would happily take the same approach to others (his interview with Iain Duncan Smith was a classic). It's to Farage's credit that he put himself forward for this but I'm not sure that he came out of this well.

Worth a watch, anyway. There are adverts at the start - it kicks off at about 2:10 in.

    Car crash

that line "I got the feeling it was not the language of choice" is weird from Farage - I don't get that.

    The mask has finally slipped.

Farage was due to attend an hour long interview today, however, when the questions got too difficult it was cut short......by forty minutes.

Throughout the interview he squirmed and twisted. Even, at one point, implied that the interviewer agreed with his bigotry and racism.

The moment I found myself wincing at was when they were talking about Germans or Romanians living next to you and Farage, with a conspiratorial little nod, leant over and said "well, you know what the difference is".

At least JoB on Lbc is there to do it. Derbyshire on BBC Five would run mile.

The Left-wing ex-public schoolboy, self confesst shop lifter and anti-Ukip campaigner Gobber O'Brien would only make the usual attacks about racism and such. He would not debate the ACTUAL issues.

From now on Ukip should insist on now focusing on the big issues in hand and give the attacks a rest. It's just a diversion.

We've had all these attacks many times before. It really isn't new. The Left-wing ex-public school, self confessed shop lifter and anti Ukip campaigner Gobber O'Brien wouldn't debate the big issues. It's a typical tactic to avoid Ukips important message.

By the way there is already a thread on this.

Amazed Farage went on this show , have to admire him for that . The interviewer is just plain nasty and spoke more than Farage . Never heard of him before , does he interview the likes of Milband, Cameron , Clegg etc in the same way ???.

Cameron was interviewed by O'Brien a long time (3 years?) ago. I'm not aware of Miliband or Clegg being interviewed but they may have been. This was the interview between Duncan-Smith and O'Brien that I referred to at the start.

He doesn't get such guests on. But no he wouldn't if they did.

Gobber O'Brien is an advocate for mass unfettered immigration and regularly spends the first hour of his show attacking Ukip.

THAT was NOT a debate . It was just a verbal onslaught , similar to when someone starts having a go at an MP canvassing in public .

The whole interview was playing the man and not the ball. I'm not surprised Farage left when he wasn't allowed to debate policy.

    There isn't a specific thread?

EDIT: ah yes there is, just seen it. I assumed you might be referring to the LBC general chit chat thread, where it's currently being debated too.

James O'Brien comes across left of Stalin.

I think we need a UKIP is racist thread pinned for the Tory and Labour supporters.

Probably because they go to Ferrari, who'll give them a far easier ride, well Cameron anyway.

HIlarious. He's about as socialist as Cilla Black.
James was privately educated and lives in Chiswick.

It was certainly very one sided but that was due to Farage making an utter twit of himself, he didn't have many answers and even when he did they were wrong. :D

Is immigration not a big issue for UKIP then?

That's an interesting observation, just curious on how that works.

O'Brien does often claim he doesn't want experts on his show.

Seems to prefer people with no knowledge of a subject - cab drivers and such.
