I have been watching a lot of comedy shows recently (mainly box sets) and have got to say the shows from thr last century are miles better than the new ones we have today.

Anyway these are my top five of all time.

1) Only Fools and Horses
2) Friends
3) Fawlty Towers
4) Everybody Loves Raymond
5) Porridge

My first four were easy, however I put Porridge just ahead of one foot in the grave.

What are yours? British, American or any other nations shows.

    Dinner ladies
    Red dwarf
    Frasier
    Simpsons (first 10 years)
    Only fools and horses

I would probably change the order depending on my mood but these ones come to mind straight away. I also wanted to include porridge and one foot in the grave, they would defiantly be in the top ten.

I find this incredibly hard even impossible to decide on. Tooooo many great comedies and you cant compare oranges and apples. But I'd definately put in

    Fraiser and
    Alan Partridge (all his output).

I have a soft spot for red dwarf too.
I'd probably say.. Garth Merenghis Darkplace too.

I just cant list them properly. It's so unfair!

Friends was an undeniable classic imo -
Ab fab for me too - a bit more hit and miss that one though

Thats 6. Oh black books, Meh, the list goes on..

I've always said you cant list these things because the definition of a comedy is that it HAS to make you laugh. Likelihood is, most stuff that doesn't do that wont ever be seen. So the vast majority of what is out there IS actually funny. With imo, a minority of comedy shows/standup comedians being dismal to some people.
If it makes you laugh, it's good and worthy of being on the list. Maybe I'm just easily happy. haha

For me, it would be easier to do a list on the worst comedies we've seen...

I'd probably say.. Garth Merenghis Darkplace too. .

Was that the series where they hypnotised a guy and tied him to a chair on top of a hill, and sent Irish dancers up and he was terrified? I've wanted to see that again for years!! but had no idea what it was called.

(if it's not and you have no idea what I'm talking about, then :o )
