Amy's Departure & How It Affects the Doctor

[Full Confession: I never react well to the loss of one of our heroines. It always seems so bittersweet! Emotions still so raw :( ]

Thinking how Eleven noted how the Ponds were imprinted on his hearts unable to resist going to see them before they flicker and fade from his life & given how this Doctor started at the same point he met the young Amelia, we could assume their absence will hit him as hard as any. Sad, wistful, rueful :( in a suddenly overly large and empty Tardis, it might be as well that he meets Jenna's character soon after Amy departs. Unless, of course, he feels he got a smidgen of closure by visiting little Amelia Pond & Amy's foreword.:cry: Maybe the Raggedy Doctor is no more? We already know he tweaks his costume a little, but I'm glad he's not going to be on his own for long stewing in solitude. Still, "Jenna" could have her work cut out! :( I do wonder if the Doctor in Mercy, with Unit and on that spaceship had already been to New York before the events of the previous episodes & was trying to have some fun times with his bestest pals before they said a final adieu? Some happy memories to leave before he would never be able to see them again? :( Parting is always with such sweet sorrow.

Amy, who it seems was always torn between "her boys" during her time in the Tardis finally & irrevocably chose Rory in the end [to the extent she chose]. There's just a hint of the romantic written in Amy & Rory's story in its size & scope. ;) Reminiscent of 'Amy's Choice' perhaps in Series 5 when she sacrificed herself & the Doctor to be reunited with Rory in the other dreamworld. She couldn't live in a world without him. Ahhh...:(

I really think Moffat got this one right, leaving the Doctor in a place where he can carry on without wallowing in despair. He knows Amy & Rory had a good life together (which, let's face it, is a good result for companions!) and still care about him to the point of making sure he was okay and had no guilt over their fate. Ultimately their departure is sad for viewers (we don't get to share their lives anymore) but for them it worked out pretty well all things considered. I have a sneaking suspicion the Christmas special will be set very close to TATM and the Doctor will be ready to take on someone new.

Hell, maybe this one will actually be an entry in the Doctor's "People I haven't screwed up" column. Think about it, without his intervention Amy wouldn't have parents and her and Rory might never have got together. Plus River would never have been born. In the grand scheme of things this one goes down as a win and proves he can be a positive influence not just on those he saves but those who travel with him.

Trapped in the past, living through a history they already know about, and knowing they can never change it? If they ended up in 1938, they're going to have to live through World War II, Ironside Daleks and atomic bombs and all. Vietnam war, commie paranoia, mass murders - they know all about them and can't do a thing about them.

The family that they'll never see again, or even be able to send a message to - in fact, that haven't even been born yet. No friends, no family, no money, no relevant skills, no record of their existence - it's not an easy ending for them.

And yet, Amy states they had a good life. You maybe right that it was not easy but the fact that Amy and Rory were together was what made it good.

    Hmm.. think about it

They know the future... a bit of gambling wil set them up, and they know where to avoid major trouble. They probebly travelled wherether it was safe and had a great time.

and who knows, maybe they kept the doctor and river updated with their TARDIS MOBILE PHONES, which everybody seems to have forgotten about !!!!
