    Back in 1977, Star Wars was a breakthrough film. It was one of the films that helped change the Sci-fi genre in its own small way. Of course it seems naiive with hindsight; the dialogue's terrible, the plot barely hangs together and the acting's nothing to write home about. Heck, even the special effects look amateurish these days. However, at the time, it was a game-changer.

    Frankly, I don't get all the reverence for the Star Wars franchise either. Lucas clearly sold out years ago and every new release after The Empire Strikes Back has become as embarrassing as each new instalment of the now ghastly Die Hard franchise.
