There's an iPhone App called TrackThis Package and it sends you a push notification whenever the package moves (if you have the tracking number). I used it when waiting for my iPad last month.

What an amazing app - thanks.

This is just a light hearted thread, we're not really getting hot under the collar because the phone hasn't yet shipped yet.

Some of us had seen the news that those in the USA had confirmation they were posted, and just recently some have been confirmed as out for delivery which means they will get them today, two whole days before the launch date.

I have a theory on why this is though and I think we should all take a little bit of pride in ourselves if true (this is also light hearted and tongue in cheek):

The Americans need to get their phones two days before the rest of us because not being so bright they will need to take longer to register and set the phone up. Us Europeans will receive the phone on launch day because our superior intellects will allow for us to breeze through the set up process and cause Apple the least amount of issues :D

denzil28 you won't be getting your Iphone tommorow. You need to except that. America may well get thiers tomorrow but that is a different country as you know. Delivery was for the 24th, you have to except that means not earlier than the 24th.........might even be the 25th.

spot on. all this whining about america is boring now.

If it's boring for you then don't read this thread and find one that's less boring.

I know I'm not getting my iphone tomorrow, but it would have been nice to have got it a day early. Or would no one actually want that, one of the most desired products a whole day early? Am i really the only fool on here who was hoping an early delivery might happen?

I suspect those who say to chill out or some other negative comment have either not been able to order one for release date and so are a bit jealous or have no intention of getting one. If this is you then this thread is not aimed at you. The opinions and comments in it will only annoy you. I'm not sure why you would want to read it and feel the need to comment and chastise someone else's excitement and thoughts.

Rant over, back on track. The comment on no chance of having one before the 24th because delivery said 24th, that's not entirely true (well it is now but there was a chance things might have been different today) America (if I'm boring you by all means move on ;)) had the same info on their orders until Apple decided to go ahead and release them early. There was a little bit of hope that could also have happened here, but it was not to be the case. I accept that and was fairly sure it wasn't going to happen but did cling on to a bit of hope throughout the day.

Tomorrow is a different day and solid dispatch info for us in the UK will be confirmed. Hopefully very early in the morning otherwise you've got another day of me posting crap :D

I've just sold my 3GS on eBay for £280, anyone know the best way to wipe it before I post it out tomorrow, and I hope you all have your micro sims at the ready

Or, on the iPhone itself - settings/general/reset/erase all content and settings

Just read a report on smart phones looks like us shipment is early because there is major smart phone announcements this week. And each mobile provider has a new powerful phone to launch. With AT&T being the most hated operator the report believes Apple are worried with the competition plus AT&T are to charge more for Data and scrap flat rate. There is one HTC phone coming out that acts as a wifi spot letting 8 users connect at one time plus the phones coming out are 4G. I guess this time in 12 months buzz will be for a 4G iPhone

It's a shame others feel the need to hijack these threads and spoil them with inane and pointless comments.

I am no Apple fanboy, I do not own a single Apple product until Thursday. I am merely excited about getting a new gadget that I have been waiting for for a very long time.

I know what I like and I know what I want. Regardless of who makes it.

Now please can we get this thread back on track. Please do not leave comments on here if you have no interest or excitement in the shipping of a release day iphone 4.

I think my post on other smartphones being announced is not pointless as this likely is the reason that many in the US are getting the phone a day early. As for the Freedom from Porn I was just quoting a Steve Jobs line. To the op I do hope you get the phone on release

Wasn't aimed at you, just getting a bit fed up of this becoming a 'knock people for being excited thread' rather than it being about the actual phones shipping or not.

I think it's a bit late in the day for Apple to ship early because of competitors. This would make more sense if it was actually going to manage to get phones into the stores tomorrow. The orders that have already been posted are for the die hards who only want an iphone 4 and are not interested in another make or model of phone. Had Apple announced the phone in April when it started to leak then maybe that would have supported Apples concern over competitors. In reality, they really don't have much to worry about. They make one or two phones that sell in their millions. The other companies make many different phones that only seem to sell in their hundreds of thousands. Apple aren't going to lose that much in sales even to their highest selling competitor.

Although my post earlier was more tongue in cheek. I think the real reason they have shipped them early is to avoid the servers crashing with mulitple countries each trying to activate their new phone on 24th. If they can spread it out over three or four days they will have less issues and will be able to chalk up a successful release (release mind not pre order process).

The real sign of Apple being concerned about a competitor is if we see a release of an additional 'catch up' phone within the usual twelve month release cycle they have so far stuck to so rigidly. I can't see this happening, but when it does it will mean Apple have lost some of their arrogance towards the phone market and starting to show a healthy respect for what customers actually want rather than what Apple tell us/them that we need.

The downside for Apple is that they have got too big now. No matter what they do they can't win. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't, so to speak. They are a victim of their own success. Only time will tell if their current success will continue. For now they seem to still be getting it right if the response and orders for the iphone 4 are anything to go by.

It's a little bizaar how some people seem t take such great offence to Apple and the iphone. If you don't want one don't buy one and don't read about them. I wasn't that interested in having an iphone until the end of last year when I started to be aware of exactly how much use I would have for such a device that seems to do everything I could ever want to do with a pocket sized gadget/phone. Up until then I managed to avoid reading posts and skipped past the release info of 3 generations of iphone. The hype can be avoided if you wish to avoid it, although I do admit that this week it might be a bit harder than usual.

I have an e-mail saying my phone might not be delivered on Thursdsay because I'm in Northern Ireland. I didn't realise we were the postal equivalent of the Moon in comparison to the rest of the UK.....
