A ballroom floor and an ice rink, I can certainly see the similarities(!) It's beneficial, of course, but so what? The fact that he's young is also beneficial. One of them has been in Liberty X and therefore has danced, and Chris Fountain could skate beforehand.
How dare he have dancing experience! HOW DARE HE!! None of the others have EVER set foot on a dance floor ever in their lives!!! Ever!! Such an unfair advantage!!!
Should we ban all the sports people as well cos they are physically fit and can deal with the physical demands of weeks of training and skating and are more mentally prepared!
Do you really want all the contestants to be Todd Carty or Aggie from last year?
I think he is too good to be on the ice, same with Jessica.
How can you be too good to be on the ice in an ice dancing competition. Oh I get it - he's got an unfair advantage because he's more talented and daring than the rest of them

IMHP Jessica is a different kettle of fish to Ray as she has skated before - she had 4 weeks training for Strictly Ice Dancing and came top with the judges. I'm surprised Jessica and David Seaman were allowed to take part in DOI tbh (or that Michael was allowed back considering he was in the show last year and on teh bench the previous year) - but I won't lose sleep over it.
He's an ex-junior Ballroom Dancing Champion for goodness sake!
What an absolute fix.
Here we go again!!
He's young, willing to try things. He has inline skates experience, which is helpful.
I used to ice skate but I cannot ballroom dance. Just because you can do one style of dance doesn't automatically mean you can transfer easily.
Also, the old Chris Fountain argument thing, if anyone has ice hockey skated then put on normal skates - balancing is difficult. The width of the blade is different, the way it cuts the ice is different.
I think Ray (and Chris) had confidence, in bucket loads, and that is the main thing. I would also say they probably have time to train.
I can see this subject is going to get very, very tedious as the weeks go on.
Where was it decided that DOI was to be for begineers only?? If the whole show was just full of celebs stumbling around the ice week after week it would be incredibly boring for me. Have some of those and the odd ones who have a tad of ability to bring some enjoyment.
He (and the others with skating experience) have been open about it, and if any of the other celebs didnt like the competition then they could have refused to take part.
So it puzzles me why some people on here are so upset at seeing some better skating. If you want to see peeps stumbling round the ice go to your local rink:D

Sorry that he did this as a child.
Well ice dancing is basically ballroom dancing on ice- or its supposed to be anyway.
Whats that got to do with Ice skating?

Give the wee lad a break and let him compete.
I'd agree if it was Strictly, but not DOI.
He's just multi-talented and would probably be good at most things that require a performance.
SNAP!
Frankly, as long of none of them are professional ice dancers before they start I don't particularly care.
I agree
OP you are barking up the wrong tree
This is clearly an outrage.
