This will be brilliant if made into a longer series - going through WW2 and beyond....
It has promise, I think, though we'll see how it goes on. And I agree, if good it could be the beginning of a whole new series of Upstairs, Downstairs, rather than just 3 episodes.

Interesting that they chose the 1930s : the class system in England was very much alive and well in that decade.

I'm finding Keely Hawes' character a tad annoying - hard to warm to at the moment.

Not impressed so far - hope it improves - no one to care about yet - and the script doesn't seem to be too hot either.

Keeley is very versatile. The writer is Heidi Thomas. Lots of short scenes, but even so, the pace seems slow. This must be what it was like for Cameron's progenitors, the idle rich.

Nice to see Rose smuggling in some fish and chips for m'lady : such food would normally be considered too "common" for a toff to be eating :)

Hmm, not sure about the surface on the road in Eaton Place.... By 1935 they had the beginnings of metallised roads, not mud roads..... hehe

No, wrong side of 40 (just!) - but at least Percy looks promising for a bit of fun

The monkey's the most interesting thing so far. I think I'd like a monkey, though my cats might not approve. :)

I just remember my mother telling me that minor roads were often built like railways with "sleepers" and tarmac filling between them :o:o;)

Cameron's father made his money. He wasn't born into to it.

I can't help thinking of Dinnerladies every time I see Anne Reid. I'm almost expecting Stan or Bren to pop up somewhere - or maybe Norman delivering the bread. :D

The Downstairs lot are more interesting than those upstairs. Poor Johnny, not a brilliant new start.
