    Christ, that's a shock!

Mr Jolly Lives Next Door was probably the funniest thing I have EVER seen. Repeatedly.

    Very sad.

Same here. It was almost unbearably funny!

Grew up watching him in everything he did. Saw him do his comedy act live in the 1980s and he was stunningly good.

    Awful, awful news. RIPrik. :(

Flashheart's grand entrance in Blackadder was pure genius.

I never knew he was ill and he wasn't that old.

He was younger than me! (but most people are).

I thought this was the whole programme but turned out to be only a clip. Shame.

Vim: You know perfectly well what's wrong.

Colin: What, that... that you might be a queer?

Mr Jolly was undoubtedly the best Comic Strip they did.
Just the other day, my wife was going to the shops and I shouted out the window

    "GET SOME GIN"

Shocking News. Don't know how he died, but very young.

Brilliant in the Young Ones and Blackadder too.

Genuinely shocked to hear of this horrible news, my sister told me in a text earlier and I immediately thought Rik was just the latest in a long line of internet celebrity death hoax's. Seeing it on the BBC news was somewhat surreal, very few comedians have the energy and screen presence of Rik, or steal scenes as effortlessly as he did in the company of other great comedians with nothing more than a cameo appearance. It always hits harder when it's someone you've followed for decades. RIP.

think i might dig out my comic strip boxset tonight and watch the bad news ones

I've got everything him and ade have ever done so i'll certainly be watching a few choice episodes tonight.

i've even got the whole series of filthy, rich and catflap, although sadly, not the uncut version I once had on VHS tape.

Completely shocked & gutted by this news.

The Young Ones, Blackadder, Bottom, The New Statesman, and various others... I watched them all. A very funny man.

    RIP Flash.
