Has anyone else noticed that when the BBC news website reports on abuse the headline only contains the gender of the victims if they're female. For example today:
"...doctor who abused young cancer patients has been sentenced to 22 years in jail" and
"A paedophile who ran children's homes in Wrexham has been jailed for life for sexually assaulting youngsters..."
Compared to :
"A man who targeted girls as young as 12 over the internet...jailed"
They use "patients" and "youngsters" rather than "boys". There must be a reason for it, as the BBC do seem to be careful in their reporting.
