    Are you insane

4 out of a 100 means remainder 96 does not equal 4m out of 100m. Its completely different, hence the word significant.

So I get paid £100 and you get paid £100m and we applied 4% pay increase. Are saying there is no significance?

    No.

    4 out of 100 = 4%

    400 out of 10,000 = 4%

    4,000,000 out of 100,000,000 = 4%

I'm not saying there is no significance.

I'm saying that the significance is the same in each example - 4%.

    Do you often wonder that?

One thing I can guarantee is that it is more times than ios users

Having used both, I would fully agree with you.

Significance is the expression of materiality. :o Significance cannot be expressed as a percentage without reference to the original amount to indicate the significance.

Considering the 57% YOY smartphone sales rise and the stagnant iPhone sales we simply won't have any large percentage of new Android users arriving from IOS.
We may only need a tiny 3% to have left IOS for the statistic to be on a par with a supposed 20% from Android.

Now where did the remaining 80% come from and how many of that 20% also had an iPhone, and did they interview more than 100 users?

I'm talking about statistical significance, not accounting.

Well, in the context here, i.e. a survey, then its about the statistical significance of the data.

The "expression of materiality" is to do with accounting.

I only just noticed that " 7% of Samsung Buyers Switched from iOS" stat.

With 6 Android sold for everyone IOS phone that means with little happening on the Apple news front, we can also get a quite dodgy 42% conversion rate from IOS.

Its a sales estimate - why wouldnt you use accounting?

Given samsung sell around 70 million a quarter that is around 5 million users from ios or 20 million a year deserting the sinking ship straight to Samsung WOW :D

Given the amount of faithful staying with ios and those converting from android I wonder why the iphone is failing to attract new users.

Because I thought we were talking about the accuracy of the survey.
