By independent do you mean independent films as well? If not then you'd need a lot of money for Hollywood films. I believe they can come into the tens of thousands of pounds to "hire".

You'll need a stupendous amount of money. Projector alone will be £50-75,000. Bear in mind that the film distributors will only let you keep about 20% of ticket prices.

There was a person who wanted to set up an independent petrol station a while ago.
He got lots of 'tips ' , perhaps you should ask him.
An independent cinema showing fine films would be excellent.

Try contacting one of the existing independent cinemas for help. Many of them are run as charities and are supported by sponsors, so there's little reason for them to be secretive. The more independent cinemas there are, the stronger organisations like Europa become, so they all benefit.

If you set up a independant cinema, I'll become an hero.

I thought you still had a sandwich enquiry , have your thoughts now turned to the concern of the Popcorn franchise?

I'm prepared to step on board for some brainstorming for this cinematic adventure. My input will significantly decrease my chances of becoming an hero.

I think its would be amazing and fun but also bring people more of a variety of cinema or even bring a cinema to a town that has wanted one for many years

bad thing is that the snacks is what brings in the money but i would try to keep them as low as i can but there is no excuse for odeon's prices of snacks due to how much money they make

There is a popcorn enquiry going on in another thread, at the moment.
Regards you being a hero , the OP needs some vast brainstorming input , of which I am sure you will oblige.

And as you will have noticed popcorn is being discussed on another thread.

this is a long term project

im wanting to open in a town because i dont think there is much oppurtunity in the city of aberdeen there was odeon with 5 screens and that went bust even showing new films so im going to target a town im in the process of deciding where what population do you think i would need

odeon shut after 63 years and never returned

So you will show all the sequels then.In running order.
    Sounds good to me .
Popcorn apparently is the key to success.

PS , I have heard Calcutta is quite busy.
